NAGDUDUSA AN PUSO KO
by Benjamin A. Claveria |
The
Buhinon and English versions below are the
original interpretations of the author. Nagdudusa an Puso Ko was
often sung by us Bikolanos during the Pacific War.
Probably we liked this song so much at the time
because our sufferings then were like what one
suffers when he is in love but is not loved in
return. Even the Japanese soldiers stationed in
Buhi liked the song. When a certain Captain
Ishibashi was their commanding officer here, he
sang this song several times in public.

NAGITIES
A PUSO KO (Buhinon) Nagities a puso ko,
Kairaki, O Neneng ko,
Eda iba, ika sana
Sa puso kong nagities makaranga.
Ay, ay, ay, ay,
pobreng buway,
Saari na ikang saken nga kadamaydamay;
Eda iba, ika sana
Sa puso kong nagities makaranga.

NAGDUDUSA AN PUSO KO (Standard Bikol)Nagdudusa an puso ko,
Lilingya man O Neneng ko,
Ika sana, daing iba
An maranga sa puso kong nagdudusa.
Ay, ay, ay, ay,
pobreng buhay,
Ika sana mahal an sakong kadamaydamay;
Ika sana, daing iba
An maranga sa puso kong nagdudusa.

IN AGONY IS MY POOR HEART (English)In agony is my poor heart,
Look down with pity, dear, on me;
For you alone can ease the pain,
You alone can take my suffering away.
Ay, ay, ay, ay,
what a sad life!
Where are you now my dear who alone can bring me
relief,
For you alone can ease the pain
And help me start to feel some happiness again.
